Mr. Ferguson became a member of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants (NBICA) December 1984, and of the Chartered Professional Accountants of New Brunswick (CPA NB) since its inception in 2014. Through his impressive professional accomplishments, he was also bestowed with a Fellowship title by both institutions, which is the highest honour that can be achieved by a member of our profession.\n\nHaving held the positions of Auditor General of Canada, Comptroller General, and Deputy Minister of Finance and Secretary to the Board of Management for the Province of New Brunswick, Mr. Ferguson was highly respected by his peers for his leadership skills, ethical integrity, and unshakable determination. He was a wonderful ambassador of the CPA profession, and has made significant contributions toward the protection of the public interest. \n\nMr. Ferguson has inspired many current and future CPAs, and will continue to do so posthumously as a role model for countless others. His passing is indeed a great loss. \n\nWe wish to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Ferguson’s family, friends, peers, as well as his colleagues within the Office of the Auditor General of Canada.\nRemembering Michael \nA public Memorial Service was held Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa, 414 Sparks Street, Ottawa.\nIn lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to the New Brunswick chapter of Easter Seals, DueNorth School Programs in Nunavut, Vets Canada, or a charity of your choice. \n\nOnline condolences can be made at colefuneralservices.com.
