Session Descriptions

Producing Effective Meeting Notes and Minutes
Nobody wants to take minutes or notes at a meeting, but everyone wants to have them. Minutes and notes serve a number of very useful functions. They act as a formal record of what happened at the meeting, a reminder to participants of what they decided, and what they are committed to do, and a source of information to those who did not attend.

Many people who are asked to take minutes and notes are not at all sure exactly what is expected.

This basic course is intended to help you write informative, useful minutes, conveying the necessary information in the most appropriate format so that the information can be easily understood, amended, and used for reference.

Dealing with the Strong Personality
There are a number of people in the workplace who have a strong or forceful personality. This forcefulness can be problematic. These individuals can be a great asset to any team as they tend to be very decisive and typically, they are very hard workers. But in some cases, the strong personality can also cause friction with co-workers and can create negative morale and motivation in the workplace.

Many people find this personality type intimidating, and in some cases, they can be difficult to deal with.

These people may be co-workers, staff, customers or suppliers or even your boss. This course will help you to understand this strong personality type better and give practical skills and techniques to interact with them more positively and more effectively. Learn how to overcome the pressure of the strong or forceful personality. Learn the techniques that work best at getting cooperation and commitment from these individuals. Learn how to manage this personality type effectively.

Email Etiquette: Create the Right Tone & Get the Best Response
The disembodied world of e-communications is fraught with potential miscommunications.

It’s all too easy to thumb off a quick message on your smartphone that unwittingly offends the recipient with a blunt tone. At your desk, it’s also easy to write flowery language around the key issue for so long that you lose your audience before you get your message across.

Learn how to strike the right tone in e-mails so that your recipient cannot possibly misunderstand you, and gives you the information you want.

Write With Confidence for Professionals
Clear writing is critical for anybody at work today. Communications with clients, colleagues, authorities and other professionals must accurately and precisely convey the required information. Poor writing leads to miscommunications. Sloppy sentences can be misconstrued.

This course will show you how to use plain English to avoid ambiguity. You will increase the quality of your writing while decreasing the time you spend writing. You will learn how to prepare your thoughts and how to compose them so the reader will understand you perfectly.

The time you spend on this course will soon be recuperated in improved writing speed and clarity.

Leadership Communications
This one day workshop gives managers and supervisors the tools to communicate clearly to the listener’s brain while engaging their emotions so that they want to use the techniques that transmit complex messages simply, and help you deliver unwelcome news in ways employees understand and accept.

You will also learn effective listening techniques and practice non-verbal methods to build rapport and trust with your people.
