Abut the role Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent will be a key member of the Finance department at SEM, responsible for various finance activities including monthly accounting procedures, financial reporting, tracking of key performance indicators, and oversight of our day-to-day cash management activities. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide oversight and advice with regards to the cash management/treasury functions performed by the organization and assist with monthly bank reconciliations as required; Support month-end accounting procedures by processing journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, and estimating monthly accruals as required; Prepare regular financial reporting including monthly financial statements, key performance indicators, and financial ratios; Support SEM’s expense management strategy by identifying and assessing the financial impact of cost saving opportunities; Work with Management to assist with developing budgets, establishing financial targets, and monitoring overall financial performance; Support the Chief Financial Officer in designing and implementing policies and procedures at SEM; Assist in preparing annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS; Assist with other accounting projects and ad hoc requests as needed. WORK EXPERIENCE 2 - 5 years of relevant work experience in Accounting. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Accounting designation (CPA) or currently enrolled in the CPA program; Knowledge of Microsoft Excel including data filtering, data sorting, pivot tables, and basic formulas; Strong analytical thinker with the ability to solve problems and suggest process improvements; Ability to learn quickly and continually seeks personal growth and development opportunities; Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently, efficiently and productively; General insurance knowledge, or CIP designation, would be an asset.
