About the role Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Finance, the Intermediate Accountant delivers professional services and financial solutions to the organization. This role ensures that policies, programs, services and strategies are developed and implemented in an ongoing and consistent manner. The Incumbent will act as a consultative partner by providing expertise and analysis to internal and external stakeholders to the City to enable the business to deliver operational functions efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate may also be responsible for some financial systems work including systems maintenance, financial reporting/training, and testing and implementation of changes. The role will provide support to all aspects of general accounting following best principles and practices. Key Responsibilities Systems, process, and quality reviews with consideration of valid internal controls Assist with month end general journal entries and year-end entries including overseeing and maintaining the chart of accounts Completion of complex reconciliations Support and assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements Consolidation process for financial statements Assist in the preparation and on site activity of external auditors General accounting and variance analysis Assist in the performance of internal audits Assist in performing entity wide risk assessments Perform other ad-hoc accounting assignments, as required Essential Qualifications To complement your Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, commerce or a related field, or have attained the required courses to enroll in the CPA program. You must also: Be enrolled in or have completed the CPA Professional Education Program and actively pursuing a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years professional accounting experience in a relevant field within the last ten years To Apply Apply Now!
