About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Hotel Accounting, the Hotel Accountant will be responsible for all accounting functions for a portfolio of five hotel properties.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following functions:

  • Preparation of monthly financial results including journal entries and account reconciliations for a portfolio of hotel properties
  • Reviewing hotel accounts payable and expense reports
  • Monthly review of hotel results with hotel managers and day to day consultation with hotel managers and hotel accounting administrators
  • Daily bank reconciliations to support weekly cash flow forecasting
  • Preparing working paper files for audit support
  • Maintaining fixed asset schedules
  • Preparation of statutory filings
  • Assistance and support on special projects and miscellaneous requests

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 years related work experience (bookkeeping, accounting)
  • Must be Bilingual in French & English (written and verbal)
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment
  • Proven ability to take ownership and produce high quality results
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Experience with Sage Accpac is considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt in an evolving work environment
  • Hospitality industry experience would be considered an asset
  • CPA designation is considered an asset
