You should be naturally curious, highly motivated, and comfortable sharing your expertise to improve our overall finance department. You'll report to and work with the Finance Manager to prepare material for our Senior Leaders, Board of Directors and External Investors. You'll be key in helping us achieve our goals by preparing monthly analysis, being involved in the budget process and financial forecasting, implementing accounting standards, and being the go to person for our external tax specialist. Responsibilities Prepare financial information to be presented to the Board of Directors, external investors and senior management; Review and analysis of financial information, comparing actual results to budgets and prior periods, investigating transactions as required Find ways to streamline and enhance data available for analysis and reporting using existing tools; Participate in the preparation of materials required for the budget, forecast and year-end audit process. Act as a liaison between Medavie and our external tax specialist by gathering information from various business areas, summarizing it and connecting with our tax specialists when taxation questions arise. Stay current on changes to accounting standards (IFRS) and participate in the transition to any new accounting standards; Qualifications Demonstrates the ability to investigate and search for answers; is a detail-oriented person with strong time management skills; Able to change priorities when necessary and to learn new software/skills easily. Uses knowledge and experience to investigate and solve a variety of routine and more complex technical problems Able to interpret data to meet analysis and reporting requirements Identifies the cause of problems and implements the most appropriate solution Communicates clearly and confidently, verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences. Demonstrates the ability to tailor information and delivery to suit the audience and situation Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; anticipates customer needs and takes personal responsibility for meeting them. Regularly asks for customer feedback to better understand how to improve service delivery Organizes work and information in a well thought out manner to deliver on specific tasks within required timelines; is results driven and able to self-manage workload. Understands how to separate and combine tasks into efficient work flow; can see opportunities for synergy and integration Education At least 3 years of experience in a similar Accounting position; you'll need to have strong knowledge of Accounting Standards and identify emerging issues affecting financial reporting Excel is a mandatory requirement; bonus experience includes PLSQL and Dynamics GP.
