About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is a key member of the Operations team with the responsibility of ensuring smooth business operations by performing various day-to-day accounting, reporting, and performance-related functions. This role is also responsible for the continuous improvement of operations by suggesting and implementing innovative improvements that aim to support the short and long-term success of the firm. The successful candidate has a passion for the investment management industry and strives for continuous self-development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various portfolio accounting and reporting functions such as:
    • Corporate actions and class action management
    • Reconciliation of net asset values
    • Periodic validation of portfolio, security, and transaction data
    • General maintenance of portfolio accounting and reporting systems
    • Prepare regular reporting packages for multiple clients
  • Measure, analyze, validate and report investment performance and risk measures
  • Provide various portfolios, performance, tax, and other information to other team members and third parties on an ad hoc basis
  • Update and maintain performance, assets, and general firm information in consultant databases
  • Develop standard procedures for existing business processes; evaluate, suggest and implement ideas to improve quality, save time, and reduce the risk of errors within these processes
  • Maintain knowledge of the various processes and act as a resource to the team
  • Continuously acquire knowledge on best practices in the investment industry, specifically as it relates to asset management operations 

Qualifications

  • University degree in finance or accounting
  • Some experience in finance or accounting would be an asset
  • Strong finance acumen and demonstrated interest for financial markets
  • Progress towards a professional designation such as CFA or CPA is preferred
  • Other combinations of appropriate knowledge and experience will be considered

Competencies

  • Strong work ethic, ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Experience using common productivity tools (MS Office suite of products)
  • Experience automating processes with Excel VBA or other automation tools considered an asset
  • Ability to recognize the need for changes and to find innovative ideas
  • Excellent ability to analyze complex problems and find solutions
  • Strong aptitude for teamwork and excellent communication skills
