We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Property Accountant to join our growing team.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Property Accountant is responsible for the full cycle accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of commercial and residential properties. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly bank files for the pre-authorized collection of more than 300 tenant rent payments;
- Record monthly rental revenue and maintain accurate tenant accounting records;
- Review and approve monthly bank and corporate credit card reconciliations for multiple legal entities;
- Oversee accounts payable processing and vendor payment functions;
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances;
- Prepare KPI reports and ad hoc financial analysis for management;
- Support year-end audit preparation;
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls;
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline;
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing designation) is considered a strong asset;
- Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience;
- Experience in property management, real estate, or multi-entity accounting is considered an asset;
- Strong understanding of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (ASPE);
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or comparable accounting software;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis;
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.
